COMPUTER SCIENCE FOR COMPLEX SYSTEMs

infOrmation science and MACHINE LEARNING FOR COMPLEX SYSTEMS

Computer Science for Complex Systems (CS2) Lab is a new research laboratory based at the University of Trieste, Italy.

We cross-fertilize formal and computational methods of contemporary Computer Science and Theoretical Physics to investigate Complex Dynamical Systems modeling Real-World Phenomena, with special focus on Infectious Diseases Dynamics, Quantum Phenomena, Statistical Mechanics and Theoretical Biology.

This cross-fertilization is not limited to mechanically use Machine Learning and Computational Methods to explore nonlinear phenomena of interest in theoretical biophysics and applied mathematics. On the contrary, we take into the account the consequences of the outstanding intuition by Jaynes (1957) who first understood that the foundations of both Classical and Quantum Statistical Physics lie in Information Theory.
